
UditVani, Jamshedpur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted spells of heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity in Jharkhand over the next few days due to an active low-pressure system and associated cyclonic circulations.
Forecast:
August 25: Heavy rainfall at isolated places over south-western Jharkhand. Thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) likely across isolated areas of the state.
August 26: Thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) may occur at isolated places.
August 27: Heavy rainfall expected at isolated places over south-eastern Jharkhand along with thunderstorm and gusty winds.
August 28: Thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) likely at isolated locations.
August 29: Heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in the state.
Low- pressure System
A low-pressure area over west Jharkhand shifted to northeast Madhya Pradesh on Sunday morning, with an associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. It is expected to move west-northwestwards before weakening.
Monsoon Through:
The monsoon trough passes through Bikaner, Jaipur, Gwalior, Prayagraj, the centre of the low-pressure system over northeast Madhya Pradesh, Purulia, Digha, and further into the northeast Bay of Bengal.
Another cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining south Uttar Pradesh, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.
A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha–West Bengal coasts within the next 24- hours, which may intensify rainfall activity.
Advisory:
People, especially in southern and southeastern districts, have been urged to remain vigilant against waterlogging, lightning strikes, and gusty winds during this active monsoon phase.
