Udit Vani Jamshedpur : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cautionary alert for isolated regions of the state, excluding north-western districts, as thunderstorms and lightning—accompanied by gusty winds clocking speeds of 30–40 kmph—are anticipated today.
On June 13, the intensity is projected to escalate, with wind gusts potentially reaching 40–50 kmph, heightening the risk of sudden weather disturbances across scattered areas.
Monsoon Progression & Synoptic Overview
The Northern Limit of the Southwest Monsoon (NLM) currently stretches across Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Bhawanipatna, Puri, Sandhead Island, through Balurghat, and up to 30°N/85°E, marking a gradual yet steady advancement of the seasonal rains.
According to synoptic observations:
A low-level trough extends from northeast Rajasthan to an upper air cyclonic circulation system, cutting across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, situated at approximately 0.9 km above mean sea level.
An upper air cyclonic circulation, previously located over Southeast Uttar Pradesh, has now shifted to East Uttar Pradesh, extending vertically up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level.
These meteorological conditions are deemed highly conducive for the further northward progression of the Southwest Monsoon, particularly over central and adjoining eastern parts of India around June 14.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant, avoid open spaces during lightning, and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.
