
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The southwest monsoon remains active over Jharkhand, triggering widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across the region.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations over the next five days.
Weather Forecast Highlights:
28 June: Heavy rainfall is likely over southern, central, and north-central parts of the state. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are expected at isolated places.
29 June: Very heavy rainfall is forecast for north-central and adjoining central Jharkhand. Heavy showers are also likely in southern, central, and north-western regions. Thunderstorm activity will persist statewide.
30 June: North-western and adjoining central parts of the state may experience heavy rainfall along with gusty winds.
1 July: Heavy rainfall is expected over south-western and adjoining central parts.
2 July: West-central Jharkhand is likely to receive isolated heavy showers.
Monsoon Progress and Synoptic Features:
The northern limit of the monsoon continues to pass through Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jhunjhunu, Bharatpur, Rampur, Sonipat, Anup Nagar, and beyond. An east-west trough, extending from a cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan to Bangladesh, crosses through East Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh, north Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal, reaching up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.
Rainfall and Temperature Summary:
Monsoon activity led to light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms at most places. Khunti block recorded the highest rainfall at 105 mm.
The maximum temperature of 33.9°C was noted at Saraikela, while the minimum temperature dropped to 18.5°C at Gumla.
Residents are advised to stay alert for weather warnings and take precautions against localized flooding and lightning hazards.
