UditVani, Jamshedpur : A renewed spell of monsoon showers is on the horizon, with widespread rainfall activity expected across the state in the coming days.
According to the latest meteorological forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated locations on September 30.
The rainfall is expected to intensify gradually, with showers likely at a few places on October 1.
By October 2, the wet conditions will spread further, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers forecast at many places across the state.
The rain activity is likely to peak between October 3 and 4, when most parts of the state are expected to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.
The southwest monsoon withdrawal line currently extends through 20°N/69°E, Veraval, Bharuch, Ujjain, Jhansi, Shahjahanpur, and 30°N/81°E. Meteorologists indicate that conditions remain unfavourable for further monsoon withdrawal over the next seven days, suggesting that the rainy season will linger a bit longer.
Weather models also highlight a trough extending from a well-marked low-pressure area over west Vidarbha and adjoining north Madhya Maharashtra to the west-central Bay of Bengal via south Chhattisgarh and north coastal Andhra Pradesh, up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.
Furthermore, an upper air cyclonic circulation is set to emerge over the north Andaman Sea on September 30, which is expected to give rise to a fresh low-pressure area over the north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal around October 1.
This system is likely to fuel further rainfall activity across the state in the first week of October.
