UditVani, Jamshedpur: Little Flower School, Jamshedpur, is celebrating a moment of immense pride as its alumnus, Prateek Raj Singh, has been commissioned as a Sub Lieutenant in the Indian Navy, following a remarkable journey of dedication, discipline, and unwavering commitment to national service.
Prateek, who completed his ICSE in 2019 and ISC in 2021 from LFS, cleared the NDA examination for the 147th course in his very first attempt—an achievement that reflected his early passion for joining the armed forces.
After graduating from the National Defence Academy in 2024, he moved on to the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala in Kerala, where he successfully passed out during the prestigious Passing Out Parade (POP) held on November 29.
The POP at INA—renowned as one of the most revered traditions of the Indian Navy—embodies the values of discipline, honour, integrity, and professional excellence.
This year’s ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries, senior naval officers, and proud families who watched the future Navy officers take their first steps into commissioned service.
A defining moment of the event was the ceremonial “shipping of stripes”, signifying the formal commissioning of the cadets.
The honour was bestowed in the presence of General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, adding great prestige to the occasion.
Teachers at Little Flower School were overwhelmed with emotion and pride upon hearing of Prateek’s accomplishment.
One of his teachers fondly recalled, “Oh my God, Prateek! Congratulations to him. He was such a sweet and adorable child—polite, kind, and always willing to help. Seeing him become an officer today fills us with immense pride.”
Another teacher highlighted his enthusiasm and leadership, saying, “He was an extremely helpful boy—an athlete who contributed tirelessly during Sports Day. A proud member of the Green House and an active part of the Student Council.”
Prateek’s father, Rakesh Singh, a mechanical engineer working with Tata Technologies Ltd., expressed heartfelt admiration for his son’s perseverance.
“From childhood, he was determined to serve the nation. His passion for defence was evident early on, and clearing the NDA on his first attempt was a result of his dedication,” he said.
He attributed much of Prateek’s grooming and discipline to his wife Priyanka Singh, acknowledging her vital role in their son’s upbringing.
Prateek’s younger sister, Ritwika Singh, is currently studying in Class VII at Little Flower School, continuing the family’s deep-rooted association with the institution.
With exemplary grit and an unwavering commitment to serve the nation, Sub Lieutenant Prateek Raj Singh stands as an inspiration to the students of LFS and the youth of Jamshedpur.
The school congratulates him and wishes him a distinguished and fulfilling career in the Indian Navy.
