UditVani, Jamshedpur: A tragic road accident occurred on Friday morning under the Kandra police station area in Seraikela district.
Subhash Pramanik, an employee of Amalgam Steel plant, was on his way to duty when he was hit by a speeding Hyva truck.
The impact of the collision was so severe that Subhash, along with his motorcycle, got trapped underneath the vehicle and remained stuck there for nearly half an hour.
Local residents said the accident took place at a turning point on the road, where over-speeding by heavy vehicles often poses a constant threat.
After hitting him, the Hyva reportedly dragged him for almost 30 feet.
Following the incident, a large number of villagers gathered at the site, and the situation quickly turned tense. Under public pressure, the management of Amalgam Steel sent a loader almost 30 minutes later to pull Subhash out from beneath the truck.
He was then rushed to a hospital in Jamshedpur, where he is currently undergoing treatment and remains in critical condition.
Even an hour after the accident, angry villagers continued to block the site, expressing strong resentment against the plant management.
They alleged that the road where the mishap occurred is too narrow and unsafe for heavy vehicle movement, increasing the risk of frequent accidents.
The villagers have demanded immediate widening of the road and an improved traffic system from the main road to the company gate to prevent such incidents in the future.
