
UditVani, Jamshedpur: Winter conditions continued to assert themselves across Jharkhand on Wednesday, with several districts experiencing brisk mornings and reduced visibility due to fog, according to the latest observations released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi.
The state capital, Ranchi, recorded a maximum temperature of 24.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum settled at 9 degrees Celsius, both marginally below the seasonal average.
The chilliest conditions were observed at Ranchi Agro Meteorological Field Unit (AMFU), where the mercury dipped to a low of 5.3 degrees Celsius, marking the lowest minimum temperature in the state.
Jamshedpur reported a maximum of 26.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 12.6 degrees Celsius, while Daltonganj witnessed daytime temperatures of 25.8 degrees Celsius, with the night temperature falling to 7.9 degrees Celsius. Bokaro Thermal also experienced a sharp drop in minimum temperature, which stood at 9.5 degrees Celsius, well below normal.
Chaibasa (Part Time Observatory) remained the warmest location in Jharkhand, registering a maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, exceeding the normal mark for this time of the year.
Morning fog was reported from several parts of the state, leading to a marked reduction in visibility. The lowest visibility was recorded at Deoghar, where it fell to 400 metres, while Ranchi and Jamshedpur reported visibility of around 600 metres during early hours.
No rainfall was recorded anywhere in the state during the past 24 hours, and meteorological authorities confirmed that no cold wave conditions were observed. Weather officials indicated that cold mornings are likely to persist over the next few days, even as daytime temperatures are expected to remain largely near seasonal norms.
