UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jharkhand is heading into a stronger winter spell, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting cold wave conditions in isolated pockets of the western region on November 14, and in western and adjoining central parts on November 15 and 16.
While no major synoptic system currently influences the state’s weather, the dominance of north-westerly to northerly winds in the lower troposphere has led to a continued fall in night temperatures.
Dry weather persisted across the state, and near cold wave conditions were already reported in parts of western Jharkhand over the past 24 hours.
The winter chill tightened its grip today as Khunti recorded a minimum temperature of 7°C, making it one of the coldest locations in the state.
Simdega followed closely at 7.3°C, while Ranchi shivered at 9.4°C. The cold intensified further in the plains, with Daltonganj registering 9.3°C.
Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature was 30.4°C in Chaibasa, and the lowest was 8.1°C in Khunti AWS, reflecting a significant day–night temperature variation.
With temperatures expected to drop further over the next three days, residents—especially in western and central Jharkhand—are advised to take necessary precautions during early mornings and late evenings.
