UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jharkhand is likely to witness a change in weather this weekend, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds across several parts of the state on October 25 and 26.
According to the IMD, thunderstorms and lightning with wind speeds of 30–40 kmph are expected at isolated places across Jharkhand—except in the northeastern region—between October 24 and 25.
In the days leading up to the weekend, weather conditions will remain largely stable.
On October 22, the state is likely to experience fog or mist in the morning followed by a partly cloudy sky and dry conditions.
On October 23, light rain or thunderstorms may occur at isolated places in southern and adjoining central parts, while other regions are expected to stay dry.
October 24 is likely to bring cloudy skies with light rain in some areas, except the northeast.
Meteorologists have attributed the upcoming weather activity to an upper air cyclonic circulation persisting over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, extending up to 5.8 Km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is expected to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours.
The system is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the central and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal.
If the system strengthens as predicted, Jharkhand could experience scattered rainfall and thunderstorm activity during the weekend, particularly between October 25 and 26.
Residents are advised to remain alert, follow official weather updates, and take necessary precautions against lightning and strong winds.
