UditVani, Jamshedpur : The southwest monsoon has begun its retreat from Jharkhand, bringing an end to this year’s rainy season and ushering in a spell of dry and comfortable weather across the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), conditions are favourable for the complete withdrawal of the monsoon from the remaining parts of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Sikkim, and Telangana within the next 24-hours.
Meteorologists said the line of withdrawal currently passes through 28°N/86°E, Raxaul, Varanasi, Jabalpur, Akola, Ahilyanagar, Alibag, and 18.5°N/72°E.
The absence of any significant synoptic system indicates that the monsoon’s exit is now imminent from the entire region.
Over the next few days, Jharkhand is expected to experience mainly clear skies and dry weather.
Maximum temperatures are likely to remain between 28°C and 30°C, while minimum temperatures may drop to around 18°C to 19°C during early mornings and nights.
This marks the official transition from the monsoon to the post-monsoon season, with cooler winds and reduced humidity expected to dominate the state’s weather pattern.
The withdrawal comes around a week later than usual, as the normal date for the monsoon’s retreat from Jharkhand is early October.
Agricultural experts have said that the late withdrawal will not significantly impact standing crops, as the rains have already subsided over the past week.
Farmers are now preparing for rabi cultivation, with soil moisture still adequate in many districts.
With the skies clearing up and temperatures set to dip gradually, residents can look forward to crisp mornings and pleasant evenings — a typical prelude to Jharkhand’s festive and winter season.
