UditVani, Davos/Ranchi: Jharkhand etched a historic milestone at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 as, for the first time, two elected tribal representatives from an Indian state participated on the global forum.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Ganday MLA Kalpana Murmu Soren, Chairperson of the Jharkhand Assembly’s Women and Child Development Committee, attended WEF as part of the official delegation.

In a rare honour, Chief Minister Hemant Soren was conferred the forum’s highest recognition-the ‘White Badge’, while Kalpana Murmu Soren received the ‘WEF Badge’.
The recognition is being hailed as a moment of pride not only for Jharkhand but for the entire tribal community, amplifying indigenous leadership and voice on the world stage.
