
Udit Vani, Jamshedpur : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a significant surge in monsoon activity across Jharkhand over the next few days, with multiple regions likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.

June 24 (Tuesday):
Heavy rainfall likely at isolated places in north-western and central Jharkhand.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph expected in isolated areas.
June 25 (Wednesday):
Heavy rainfall may occur in south-western and north-eastern districts.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds of 30–40 kmph likely at isolated places.
June 26 (Thursday):
Very heavy rainfall predicted at isolated locations in south-western parts.
Heavy rainfall also expected in southern and central areas.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) likely.
June 27 (Friday):
Heavy rainfall forecast for southern and adjoining central districts.
Thunderstorm/lightning with 30–40 kmph winds expected at isolated locations.
Monsoon Progress and Synoptic Features
The Northern Limit of the Monsoon currently passes through Jaipur, Agra, Rampur, Dehradun, Shimla, Pathankot, Jammu, and beyond up to 34.0°N/71.0°E.
Key synoptic features influencing the weather include:
A trough extending from a cyclonic circulation over central Uttar Pradesh to northwest Bay of Bengal via northeast Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and north Odisha, up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.
Another trough running along Longitude 87°E, north of Latitude 21°N, at about 3.1 km altitude.

People are advised to remain alert, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas, and avoid unnecessary travel during intense spells of rain. Fishermen and local residents should exercise caution due to possible gusty winds and lightning.
