UditVani, Jamshedpur: Jharkhand remained firmly in the grip of dry and chilly weather on Tuesday, with no significant synoptic system influencing the region. Cold northerly and north-easterly winds sweeping through the lower troposphere continued to reinforce the crisp winter-like conditions across most districts.
Clear skies dominated the state due to the lack of moisture inflow and cloud cover, allowing night temperatures to plunge noticeably.
The western and central parts of Jharkhand experienced isolated cold wave conditions, as the intensity of the chill became more pronounced during the late-night and early-morning hours.
According to the Meteorological Department, Chaibasa registered the state’s highest maximum temperature at 29.8°C, standing out as one of the warmer pockets amidst an otherwise cool day. In stark contrast, Gumla emerged as the coldest location, recording a minimum of 7.8°C. Notably, the district had dipped even lower a day earlier, touching a minimum of 6.6°C.
The state capital, Ranchi, woke up to a cold morning with the temperature settling at 11.3°C, accompanied by brisk winds that added to the chill factor.
Jamshedpur recorded a minimum of 13°C, while Daltonganj continued to remain firmly in the winter zone at 9.3°C.
Lohardga and Simdega today recorded minimum temperatures of 9.6 degree Celsius while Latehar recorded 9 degrees.
The minimum temperature hovered around 12 -13 degree celsius in Bokaro and its adjoining areas today.
Khunti recorded 9.4 degree Celsius today.
Early-morning shallow fog reduced visibility in a few areas, with Ranchi reporting the day’s lowest minimum visibility of 1500 metres, causing mild disruption to vehicular movement before conditions improved.
With dry northerly winds expected to persist, temperatures are likely to hover on the lower side in the coming days.
Residents across Jharkhand may continue to experience cold mornings and evenings, even as daytime sunshine brings brief periods of comfort.
