UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jharkhand is set to witness contrasting weather conditions this Diwali as festive lights may share the sky with passing rain clouds in parts of the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), while southern Jharkhand could experience spells of rain or thunderstorms on Monday, October 20, most other districts are expected to remain dry and comfortable.
The IMD report indicates that an upper air cyclonic circulation persisting over north Jharkhand and adjoining regions is likely to influence weather patterns across the state.
This system may trigger localised rain and thunder activity, especially in East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Gumla, and Simdega districts. Residents in these areas are advised to remain cautious during outdoor Diwali celebrations as brief showers or lightning activity may occur in the evening hours.
For the rest of Jharkhand — including Ranchi, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Dumka, and Godda — the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy but largely dry.
The IMD has ruled out any significant rainfall activity in these regions, offering a clear and comfortable atmosphere for the festival of lights.
The temperature profile across the state will stay within a pleasant range, with daytime highs between 28°C and 32°C, and nighttime lows around 18°C to 22°C.
Winds are expected to remain light to moderate, at 5–15 Kmph, creating ideal conditions for safe and enjoyable festivities.
In its broader forecast, the IMD stated that on Sunday, October 19, Jharkhand will experience partly cloudy skies with dry weather in most areas.
On Tuesday, October 21, the day after Diwali, fog or mist may appear in the morning, but the rest of the day will likely remain mainly clear and dry across the state.
Humidity levels will remain moderate, ensuring a comfortable festive environment, especially in northern and central districts.
The IMD has advised residents in the southern belt to keep an eye on local weather updates and take necessary precautions to avoid disruptions due to brief rainfall or thunderstorm activity.
Overall, Jharkhand’s Diwali weather outlook paints a picture of calm skies for most regions and isolated showers in the south — a gentle reminder of nature’s unpredictability amid the season of lights.
While rain clouds may hover briefly over southern Jharkhand, the festive glow of Diwali is expected to shine undimmed across the state.
