UditVani, Jamshedpur: A piercing cold wave swept across Jharkhand, tightening winter’s grip on the state as Gumla recorded the lowest temperature at 3.9°C, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi, reported on Wednesday.
Several districts experienced below-normal night temperatures, with Ranchi recording a minimum of 8.5°C, while Jamshedpur settled at 12.6°C.
Daytime temperatures also stayed subdued, with Chaibasa emerging as the warmest location at 26.8°C and Ranchi registering a maximum of 23.2°C.
Morning hours saw dense fog envelop parts of the state, sharply reducing visibility to 400 metres in Deoghar, and around 500 metres in Ranchi and Jamshedpur, disrupting early-day movement.
No rainfall was recorded anywhere in Jharkhand during the past 24 hours.
Weather officials said cold and dry conditions are likely to continue over the next few days, particularly during night and early morning hours, advising residents to remain cautious as winter intensifies.
