UditVani, Jamshedpur : The football frenzy returns to the Steel City as Jamshedpur FC gets set to kick off preparations for the prestigious Durand Cup.
Thirteen players are slated to arrive at the club’s Flatlet facility on Saturday, July 13, to begin pre-tournament training under the guidance of head coach Khalid Jamil.
This marks the team’s first full-fledged camp since their Super Cup campaign earlier this year.
Among those arriving are key names like Albino Gomes, Ritwik Das, Mobashir Rahman, Pronay Halder, and young local talent Nikhil Barla.
The group also includes Amrit Gope, Ayush Jena, Pratik Chaudhari, Kartik Choudhary, Sourav Das, Puia, Sreekuttan, and Mohammed Sanan — all set to regroup and build momentum ahead of the season.
Goalkeeper Albino Gomes, a standout performer last season, will once again be crucial with his commanding presence and sharp reflexes.
His experience will be vital in navigating the group stage battles.
All eyes will also be on Ritwik Das, the club’s creative force up front. After making a strong comeback from injury last season, Ritwik’s pace and attacking prowess will be key to unlocking opposition defenses in the Durand Cup.
Youngster Nikhil Barla, a promising forward from Jharkhand, is expected to use this platform to stake a claim for a larger role in the squad.
Jamshedpur FC’s group stage matches will all be played at their home ground, the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
They will open their campaign against Nepal’s Tribhuvan Army FT on July 24 at 4 PM, followed by clashes against Indian Army FT on July 29 and Ladakh FC on August 8 — both also scheduled at 4 PM.
With a blend of experience and emerging talent, the Men of Steel will aim to make a strong impression in Asia’s oldest football tournament.
