Udit Vani, Jamshedpur: Azadnagar police, in coordination with Patamda subdivision officials, have uncovered an illegal cough syrup trafficking operation, leading to the arrest of two individuals, including a minor. The main accused has been identified as 25-year-old Imran Khan alias Vicky of Chepa Pul locality.
During the raid, officers recovered 27 bottles of banned cough syrup — totalling 2700 ml — which is often misused as a narcotic. The operation was launched after police received a tip-off about suspicious activity near Murda Maidan, prompting the formation of a special raiding team under the Patamda DSP.
Both suspects were taken into custody at the spot, and police have begun questioning them to determine the source of the consignment and its intended distribution network.
Authorities said the arrests form part of an ongoing campaign against illegal drug trade in the district, and further action is expected based on the investigation’s findings.
