
Udit Vani, Jamshedpur: The second day of Ignite 2025, the four-day annual sports festival of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, was filled with exuberance, determination and spirited competition.
The morning began on an electrifying note with a thrilling volleyball match that instantly energized the campus. Assistant Registrar Archana Singh inaugurated the day’s events and encouraged the participants, highlighting how sports foster discipline, confidence and leadership — qualities essential for students’ all-round development.
A series of events held throughout the day witnessed remarkable performances from students across all houses. In the Boys’ Shot Put, Yellow House dominated the field with impressive efforts by Jaidev Das, Nilesh Pratap Singh and Irfan Alam. In the Girls’ Shot Put, Blue
House secured the top position as Aparna Sheet, Monali and Suman showcased commendable skill and determination.
Discus Throw competitions reflected the same competitive spirit.
Yellow House once again emerged victorious in the boys’ category through strong performances by Jaidev, Irfan and Manav.
The girls’ category also saw a clean sweep by Yellow House, led by outstanding shows from Laxmi, Neha and Khushi.
The Girls’ Football Penalty Shootout added excitement to the afternoon, with Red House taking first place, Green House finishing second and Yellow House securing third place.
The “Hit the Wicket” event for girls further showcased precision and sporting excellence, where Blue House claimed first position, Green House stood second and Red House finished third.
The day’s most anticipated event—the cricket semifinal—kept the crowd engrossed as teams displayed remarkable teamwork, strategy and sportsmanship. Tomorrow’s final between Red House and Yellow House has already generated immense excitement among students.
Throughout the festival, the medical team comprising Harsha Verma, Uma Mahato and Shafinaz Taeba remained actively deployed, offering timely medical assistance and ensuring participant safety.
Day 2 of Ignite 2025 not only highlighted athletic brilliance but also strengthened camaraderie, competitive spirit and leadership qualities among students, setting a vibrant tone for the remaining days of the festival.
