UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jamshedpur FC have extended the contract of midfielder Sourav Das for two more years, keeping the defensive midfielder at the club until the end of the 2026–27 season.
A Tata Football Academy (TFA) graduate, Sourav was a key figure in Jamshedpur’s impressive 2024–25 campaign, which saw the Men of Steel reach the Indian Super League semifinals and finish as runners-up in the Super Cup.
Sourav has built his reputation as a reliable, hard-working midfielder, known for his ball-winning ability and positional discipline.
Since joining Jamshedpur FC in July 2024 from Rajasthan United, Sourav featured in 21 ISL matches last season, starting all of them and logging nearly 1,450 minutes. Beyond statistics, he provided balance and stability in midfield, maintaining passing accuracy in the mid-70s and asserting a commanding presence in defensive transitions.
Head Coach Steven Dias praised the extension, highlighting Sourav’s consistency and importance to the squad. “Sourav is one of those players every coach values. He is committed, selfless, and sets the tone for others. He brings composure to our midfield. Retaining him was very important as we build for the coming seasons,” Dias said.
“It feels special to continue my journey with Jamshedpur FC, especially since this club is connected to TFA, where I began my football education. Last season was a big step for us as a team, and I want to keep contributing to take the club even higher. The trust from the coach and staff means a lot, and I’ll keep giving my best every time I step on the pitch,” Sourav said.
Sourav began his senior career with Mohun Bagan before moving to Mumbai City FC, SC East Bengal, and Chennaiyin FC. After a brief spell at Rajasthan United, he joined Jamshedpur FC in 2024 and has since become a lynchpin in midfield.
The Men of Steel will kick off their campaign against FC Goa on October 26, followed by matches against North East United FC on October 29 and Inter Kashi on November 1 in the Group B fixtures in Goa.
