UditVani, Jamshedpur : A tragic road accident in Burmamines claimed the life of 17-years-old Sharanjit Singh, a resident of Namda Basti, in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred between 3:30 and 4:00 am when a speeding truck (registration number JH 05 AK 5732) rammed into Singh’s Splendor motorcycle near Mukhi Basti. Reports suggest that Singh was on his way to Tatanagar Railway Station to pick up a family member when the accident took place.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the truck dragged Singh and his two-wheeler for nearly 200 meters, leading to his instant death on the spot. Locals described the scene as horrifying, as the victim’s body was severely crushed under the vehicle.
Following the accident, the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the site, leaving behind chaos and anger in the locality. Residents of Mukhi Basti, outraged by the incident, blocked the road near the Burmamines Tube Company gate. They demanded immediate arrest of the absconding driver and strict action against reckless driving in the area, which has witnessed several accidents in recent times.
Police teams rushed to the spot to pacify the agitating crowd and assured them of swift action. The body of the deceased was later sent for post-mortem at MGM Medical College and Hospital.
Authorities are investigating the case, while search operations are underway to nab the truck driver.
