UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jharkhand is bracing for a brief spell of cold wave conditions as minimum temperatures dipped noticeably across several regions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted cold wave conditions in isolated pockets of north-western Jharkhand and areas adjoining north Chhattisgarh on November 10 -11.
While no significant synoptic system is influencing the state’s weather, a steady flow of north-westerly to northerly winds up to the mid-tropospheric level is pulling cold, dry air into Jharkhand, leading to a sharp fall in night temperatures.
Over the past 24 hours, dry weather prevailed statewide.
Highest maximum temperature: 31.8°C at Chaibasa-PTO
Lowest minimum temperature: 09.6°C at Khunti-AWS, marking a clear onset of winter chill.
The abrupt temperature drop may lead to discomfort among vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and individuals with chronic respiratory or cardiac conditions.
Residents are advised to:
* Wear warm clothing during early mornings and late evenings
* Limit prolonged outdoor exposure
* Stay hydrated and protect against dryness and cold-related infections
Cold wave conditions are expected to remain confined to isolated pockets, while the rest of Jharkhand continues to witness cool, dry weather over the next two days.
