Jamshedpur : Tata Main Hospital (TMH) commemorated International Nurses Day 2025 with a vibrant week-long celebration, recognising the tireless dedication, compassion, and service of its nursing staff.
The global theme for this year, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economy”, highlighted the indispensable role nurses play not just in patient care but also in driving societal and economic development.
The central celebration was held at TMH, chaired by D B Sundara Ramam, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, alongside Sanjeev Choudhary, President, Tata Workers’ Union.
The event witnessed a gathering of over 850 attendees, including nurses, TWU office bearers, HODs, and senior officials – all uniting in a moving tribute to the nursing fraternity.
In his address, Sundara Ramam praised the leadership and commitment of nurses, calling them the backbone of the healthcare system.
Choudhary echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of continued recognition and support for their pivotal role.
Vinita Singh, General Manager, Medical Services, Tata Steel, also addressed the gathering, reaffirming TMH’s dedication to fostering a progressive and nurturing environment for its nurses.
As part of the week-long celebrations, TMH conducted a series of events across its units in Jamshedpur, Jamadoba, Noamundi, Joda, and West Bokaro.
Activities included a voluntary blood donation camp, health camps, cultural programmes, debate sessions, and awareness drives – each event crafted to reflect the spirit of care and community.
Highlights
TMH Jamshedpur: A one-day voluntary blood donation camp saw enthusiastic participation from all healthcare cadres, including student nurses. A total of 45 units were collected, with 50% of donors being women – a noteworthy achievement highlighted by the organisers.
Jamadoba: Sanjay Rajoria, General Manager, Jharia Division, joined Sister Kiran Toppo, Nursing Superintendent, in paying homage to Florence Nightingale, followed by a cultural performance honouring the nursing spirit.
Noamundi: A health camp held in village Kantadiya used the newly launched Mobile Medical Unit for the first time. Free medical check-ups, lab tests, and medicine distribution were conducted, with several malaria cases detected and treated effectively.
Joda: Celebrations included an oath-taking ceremony, cake cutting, and a spirited debate on the year’s theme. The event also featured the presentation of the Best Paper Award for 2024-25, attended by Rajesh Kumar, Chief, and other dignitaries.
West Bokaro: A series of engaging events, including lamp lighting, nurses’ anthem, pledge, and cultural performances were held. The event concluded with inspiring words from Guest of Honour, Anurag Dixit, General Manager, West Bokaro.
