Jamshedpur : Tata Steel Zoological Park celebrated the International Day for Biological Diversity with a special event dedicated to rural children, embracing this year’s theme — “Harmony with Nature and Sustainable Development.”
As part of the celebration, the Zoo hosted an engaging lecture titled “The Importance of Forests as a Sustainable Livelihood for Human Beings”. Delivered by Dr. Seema Rani, Zoo Biologist and Education Officer, the talk highlighted the vital role forests play in supporting life on Earth and emphasized the need for their preservation and sustainable use.
The event served as a strong reminder of forests’ critical contributions to biodiversity, climate stability, and human well-being, urging collective action toward conservation.
Around 30 children from the Seraikela-Kharsawan district, accompanied by their teachers, participated in the programme. Following a guided Zoo tour, the students enjoyed a hands-on ‘Touch and Learn’ session and a museum visit, where various specimens were displayed, making the educational experience both memorable and meaningful.
