
UditVani, Jamshedpur: To facilitate safe, comfortable, and hassle-free travel during the Holi festival season, Indian Railways has planned the operation of 1,410 Special Train trips across the country in 2026, in line with the expected surge in passenger demand.
Depending on peak-season requirements, the number of special services may be further augmented.
With a large number of passengers travelling to their hometowns or visiting friends and relatives during the festival of colours, these special trains aim to provide enhanced connectivity between major destinations nationwide and effectively manage the festive rush.
As part of this initiative, South Eastern Railway has proposed the operation of Holi special trains on the following routes to regulate additional passenger traffic and ensure a seamless journey experience:
* Santragachi – M.G.R. Chennai – Santragachi
* Santragachi – Thiruvananthapuram – Santragachi
*Santragachi – Charlapalli – Santragachi
* Santragachi – Darbhanga – Santragachi
* Shalimar – Vadodara – Shalimar
* Shalimar – Visakhapatnam – Shalimar
* Tatanagar – Katihar – Tatanagar
* Tatanagar – Buxar – Tatanagar
* Ranchi – Gorakhpur – Ranchi
* Ranchi – Ajmer – Ranchi
* Ranchi – Jaynagar – Ranchi
These special services are being planned to ensure that passengers can celebrate Holi with their loved ones while enjoying a smooth, reliable, and comfortable rail journey.
