
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Indian Railways has undertaken a significant infrastructure initiative under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) to modernise and upgrade railway stations across the country.
The scheme aims to enhance passenger amenities, improve accessibility, beautify station premises, and ensure better inter-modal connectivity.
A total of 72- stations under South Eastern Railway are being developed as part of this transformative programme.
Among these, Lohardaga Railway Station, under the jurisdiction of South Eastern Railway’s Ranchi Division in Jharkhand, is set for a major facelift.
The redevelopment, estimated at Rs 8.26 crore, will bring a host of new and improved facilities designed to make the station cleaner, more comfortable, and user-friendly.
Situated in a mineral-rich region, the upgraded Lohardaga station is expected to offer both functional and economic advantages, benefiting daily commuters as well as the local economy.

Key Features of the Redevelopment
* Construction of a new station building
* Improved circulating and parking areas
* Installation of two new lifts
* A 12-metre-wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB)
* Development of approach road, entry/exit gates, and porch
* Enhanced Divyangjan-friendly facilities including ramps, booking counters, water booths, toilets, and parking areas
* Platform shelters and surfacing improvements
* Installation of coach indication boards and water booths
* Aesthetic upgrades including local art and cultural themes, improved seating arrangements, and tactile paths for visually impaired passengers
Once completed, the redeveloped Lohardaga station will stand as a model of modern infrastructure blended with local cultural identity, symbolising Indian Railways’ continued commitment to passenger comfort and regional development.
