UditVani, Ranchi : India will be represented by ten states at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026, scheduled to be held in Davos from 19 to 23 January 2026, alongside a high-level national delegation comprising Union Ministers and senior officials. Participating states include Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana, Karnataka, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala. Several Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers will lead state delegations, reflecting India’s growing sub-national engagement in global economic and policy dialogues.
Among the participating states, Jharkhand will make its debut at the World Economic Forum with a delegation led by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Hemant Soren. The participation coincides with the completion of 25 years of Jharkhand’s statehood and marks a significant moment in the state’s global engagement. Jharkhand’s presence at WEF 2026 is positioned around governance-led development, sustainability, and long-term institutional capacity, reflecting the lived realities of a resource-rich state shaped by forests, minerals, labour migration, and indigenous communities.
As Jharkhand completes 25 years of statehood, its participation signals a shift from being discussed in global development conversations to actively shaping them. Jharkhand enters Davos grounded in lived realities of forests, minerals, labour, migration, climate vulnerability, and indigenous governance, bringing perspectives often absent from global economic forums. Jharkhand’s presence articulates an alternative development pathway for sub-national economies in the Global South, rooted in sustainability, equity, and institutional capacity.
While Indian states will engage on a range of sectoral and investment-related discussions, Jharkhand’s participation reflects the perspectives of regions that bear the social and environmental costs of growth, and seeks to contribute grounded insights to global conversations on development, sustainability, and institutional resilience.
Jharkhand’s engagement at WEF 2026 will focus on electric mobility, energy security, climate action, forest and bio-economy, and women’s empowerment, positioning the state within global discussions on sustainable growth, just transitions, and inclusive development pathways.
During the WEF Annual Meeting, Jharkhand will participate in thematic sessions and bilateral engagements focused on critical minerals, renewable energy, manufacturing, food processing, healthcare, and emerging financing mechanisms. The state will also host discussions highlighting its long-term development vision and approach to sustainable and equitable growth. These engagements aim to strengthen partnerships with multilateral institutions, governments, academic bodies, and responsible private sector stakeholders.
In addition to the state delegations, India’s national presence at WEF 2026 will include Union Ministers from agriculture, information technology, renewable energy, railways, and civil aviation, along with participation from over one hundred Indian industry leaders. Together, the Indian delegation will present a comprehensive picture of India’s economic priorities, governance reforms, and development ambitions.
Jharkhand’s participation at the World Economic Forum 2026 reflects its evolving role in national and global policy spaces, and its commitment to engaging with international partners on pathways that balance economic growth with social equity and environmental sustainability, in sync with its theme for Davos 2026: Growth in Harmony with Nature.
