
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds (maximum speed 30–40 kmph) at isolated places across Jharkhand till Thursday, August 14.
According to weather men heavy rains will take a brief pause.
According to the IMD’s Ranchi centre, the monsoon trough at mean sea level currently extends from Faridkot, Ludhiana, Najibabad, Shahjahanpur, Balia, and Jalpaiguri, moving east-northeastwards towards Arunachal Pradesh. An upper air cyclonic circulation persists over central parts of Uttar Pradesh, extending up to 4.5 km above mean sea level and tilting southwards with height.
In addition, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal around August 13, which may enhance rainfall activity in eastern India after Thursday.
As per rainfall statistics, Jharkhand is currently experiencing a surplus of 41 per cent. Against the normal rainfall of 607 mm, the state has so far received 854 mm of rain.
