
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The Institution of Engineers (India), Jamshedpur Local Centre, a professional body established in 1952, held its 73rd Annual General Meeting at 7 PM on 25th October 2025 at United Club, Jamshedpur. A large number of corporate members participated in the meeting. During the proceedings, Er. T. Thirumurugan, Honorary Secretary, presented the annual report, which was unanimously adopted. The outgoing Chairman, Er. Satish Kumar Tiwary, announced the names of the new office bearers: Er. Vinit Kumar Shah from Tata Steel as Chairman and Dr. Seeram Madhuri from NIT Jamshedpur as Honorary Secretary. The members extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed officials.

The AGM was followed by the 58th Engineers’ Day Award function, marking the 164th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. The ceremony began with a welcome to the Chief Guest, Er. Suresh Kumar, Ex-Vice President, Shared Services, Tata Steel Ltd. In his welcome address, Chairman Er. Satish Kumar Tiwary emphasized the importance of Engineers’ Day.

The Distinguished Engineer Award was conferred upon Er. Probal Ghosh, a Mechanical Engineer and leader at Tata Steel, in recognition of his significant contributions in asset management and energy infrastructure. The second Distinguished Engineer Award was presented to Er. Anurag Saxena, Chief of Electrical Maintenance at Tata Steel Jamshedpur, for his notable achievements and leadership in the engineering community. The Lady Engineer Award was bestowed upon Dr. (Mrs.) Dulari Hansdah, Assistant Professor at NIT Jamshedpur, honoring her decade-long contribution in thermal and energy engineering.

A biographical profile of the Chief Guest was read by Dr. Seeram Madhuri, followed by an inspiring address by Er. Suresh Kumar. He highlighted how engineers drive innovation to unlock endless technological possibilities and create a sustainable future by adopting eco-friendly practices and renewable energy solutions, ensuring the planet thrives for generations to come.
The proceedings concluded with Er. Vinit Kumar Shah presenting a memento to the Chief Guest and a vote of thanks from Er. T. Thirumurugan, Honorary Secretary. The function witnessed the presence of several distinguished engineers and city dignitaries.
