UditVani, Jamshedpur: Winter conditions intensified across Jharkhand on Saturday, with Gumla registering the state’s lowest minimum temperature of 3.0°C, according to the latest bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi.
The IMD’s Realised Weather Report indicated a notable dip in both maximum and minimum temperatures across several districts, but Gumla stood out with a sharp fall, marking one of the season’s coldest mornings so far.
The district recorded a maximum temperature of 23.1°C, showing a wide gap between day and night temperatures.
The bulletin highlighted the following key observations:
Lowest Minimum Temperature: Gumla AWS – 3.0°C
Highest Maximum Temperature: Godda AWS – 29.1°C
Rainfall: None reported anywhere in the state in the past 24 -hours
Lowest Visibility: Jamshedpur – 1100 m
The prevailing chill is being attributed to dry north-westerly winds blowing across Jharkhand, combined with clear skies that enhance nighttime cooling.
No significant synoptic weather system currently affects the state, allowing temperatures to drop steadily.
Weather officials expect cold to near–cold wave conditions to continue over the next two days, especially in Gumla, Latehar, Simdega and other western districts.
Residents have been advised to stay adequately warm, limit exposure to early-morning and late-night cold, and take precautions for children, the elderly and those with respiratory issues.
As winter deepens, further temperature dips remain likely, making Gumla a key district to watch in the days ahead.
