
UditVani, Jamshedpur: Police have arrested two persons in connection with the theft of rice and flour sacks from a grocery shop in Birsanagar Zone-3.
The accused were caught with the stolen items following swift police action.
The complainant, Rinku Prasad, a resident of Birsanagar Zone-5 near Gitti Machine Kali Mandir, had lodged a written complaint at the Birsanagar police station, naming local resident Lalu Tantubai as the prime accused.
According to police, the arrested accused are Lalu Tantubai of Zone-3 D Block and Suraj Mardi (19) of Zone-1 B, Jhanda Chowk.
Lalu was first taken into custody, and based on his confession, Suraj was subsequently arrested.
The theft reportedly took place between January 24 and 26, when the shop remained closed.
The incident came to light on January 30, after which police acted promptly, recovered the stolen goods, and initiated further legal proceedings.
