UditVani, Jamshedpur : A major fire broke out late Monday night at HNo. 38 on Sukhia Road in Golmuri, causing damages worth an estimated Rs 2–2.5 lakh.
The blaze erupted at the residence of Haspreet Singh, who had stepped out of the house moments before noticing smoke billowing from a room.
At the time of the incident, Singh’s mother and sister were away visiting a dentist. Within minutes, the fire spread rapidly, triggering panic in the locality.

Neighbours quickly gathered and informed the fire brigade, which reached the spot promptly. After nearly half an hour of intensive efforts, firefighters—with support from locals—managed to bring the flames under control.
By the time the fire was extinguished, extensive damage had already been done. Several appliances, including a TV and refrigerator, along with furniture and items stored in the storeroom, were completely destroyed.
While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, an electrical short circuit is suspected. Police and fire officials have inspected the site and initiated a probe to determine the exact reason.
The incident has reignited concerns over fire safety standards in residential areas. Experts stress the need for proper fire safety equipment and regular safety audits to prevent such incidents from turning into major disasters.
