
UditVani, Jamshedpur : A woman and her six-year-old son sustained injuries after a scooter-borne criminal attempted to snatch her purse near Nildih under Golmuri police station area on Tuesday night.
The victim, Neetu Singh, wife of Tata Motors employee Surendra Singh, was returning home from Sakchi with her family when the incident occurred. As they reached the Neeldih signal, a youth on a scooter tried to snatch Neetu’s purse from behind. When she resisted, a tussle ensued, causing her and her son Sarthak to fall on the road.
Sarthak suffered severe head injuries, while Neetu sustained facial injuries. Local residents rushed them to Tata Motors Hospital, where doctors provided primary treatment. Both are reported to be in stable condition.
Following the incident, police reached the spot and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the area is being examined, and locals are being questioned to trace the accused.
The incident triggered protests by residents demanding immediate arrest of the culprit and stronger security measures in the area. Police have assured swift action and promised to nab the accused soon.
Local residents and social activists have termed the incident a serious warning, urging authorities to implement stricter safety measures, particularly for women and children.
