UditVani, Jamshedpur : Chaos erupted at the Gamharia Circle Office when Padmalochan Mandal, accompanied by his son, walked in to contest a land mutation case-revealing that he had been erroneously declared dead in official records.
Officials and staff were taken aback when they discovered that Mandal, very much alive, had been marked as deceased in government documents.
The incident came to light when Mandal alleged that former councillor Mamta Bej had deliberately listed him as dead in a submitted genealogy (vanshavali), allegedly to facilitate illegal transfer of his property.
In his formal objection, Mandal claimed that documents were being manipulated to falsely record him as childless and deceased, with the intent of taking control of his land unlawfully.
He rushed to the office with his son as soon as he became aware of the suspected fraud, aiming to prevent any irregularities in the mutation process.
Given the gravity of the allegations, Circle Office officials have launched a thorough review of the genealogy and all related land documents.
Senior authorities have also been informed. Preliminary checks have already revealed multiple discrepancies, raising strong suspicions of document forgery.
The shocking revelation has sent ripples across Gamharia, making it a major topic of discussion in the region.
