
Udit Vani, Jamshedpur : Panic gripped Kitadih in the Bagbera police station area late Friday night after unidentified assailants opened fire near Sai Complex, leaving a young man critically injured.
The victim, identified as Ashish Kumar Bhagat, a local resident, was rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) with the help of local residents.
He is currently undergoing treatment and remains in critical condition.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 10:30 pm, when sudden gunshots rang out near Sai Complex, triggering chaos in the neighborhood.
Residents rushed out of their homes to find Ashish lying in a pool of blood, bearing visible gunshot wounds.
On receiving the information, Bagbera police swiftly reached the scene, cordoned off the area, and sent the injured youth to the hospital.
During the initial investigation, police recovered key evidence from the spot, including an empty cartridge and a broken mobile screen.
Speaking on the incident, the Officer-in-Charge of Bagbera police station said, “We are investigating all possible angles. Whether the firing was the result of a personal rivalry or a previous dispute is yet to be confirmed.”
Local sources suggest that Ashish had an ongoing conflict with a group of local youths, though police have not officially confirmed any motive.
The investigation is being supported by technical evidence and CCTV footage from nearby areas.
Doctors at TMH have confirmed that Ashish sustained a gunshot wound to his lower body, resulting in heavy bleeding. He remains under close medical supervision.
The incident has triggered fear among residents of Kitadih and nearby areas.
Many locals remarked that the area, once considered peaceful, is witnessing a surge in criminal activities in recent times.
Police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information related to suspicious activity or sightings of people fleeing the scene.
In light of the gravity of the incident, additional police forces have been deployed in the area.
Authorities remain hopeful of making arrests soon and have assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible.
