UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a bid to ensure law and order during the upcoming Muharram celebrations, East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi and Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey convened a high-level meeting with members of the Central Peace Committee and licensed representatives from various Muharram committees at the Town Hall auditorium in Sidhgora.
The meeting focused on strengthening administrative preparedness, discussing feedback from recent peace committee meetings across various police station jurisdictions.
Issues raised by Muharram committee representatives—such as road repair along procession routes, proper lighting arrangements, sanitation, obstruction-free pathways, and need-based barricading—were duly noted, with officials assuring timely resolution.

Key district officials present included Rural SP Rishabh Garg, City SP Kumar Shivashish, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhagirath Prasad, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal, Ghatshila SDM Sunil Chandra, along with other senior district, civic, and police officials.
The administration made it clear that no deviation from the traditional procession routes will be allowed. Authorities have been instructed to verify all procession paths in advance. The festival is to be observed in a spirit of peace and communal harmony. Emergency services like medical aid, ambulances, fire services, and quick response teams (QRTs) will remain deployed throughout the event.
DC Satyarthi stressed strict vigilance on social media, warning that the spread of false or provocative information would be dealt with seriously. He urged the public to report any suspicious activity or misinformation to the nearest police station or administrative official. Sensitive areas will be under heightened surveillance, with special teams monitoring digital platforms. The Control Room will monitor real-time developments, and drones, CCTV, and videography will be used to document the processions.
SSP Pandey advised that Muharram committees should also prepare internal safety mechanisms in case of emergencies.
“This is a religious festival and must not be used to express political opinions related to global events,” he emphasized, adding that caution must be exercised while using social media.
Rural SP Rishabh Garg instructed committees to be mindful of the height of tazias, while City SP Kumar Shivashish warned against dangerous stunts, intoxicated revelry, and the nuisance of biker gangs. Committees were directed to submit the names of their designated volunteers to local police stations and assign responsible members to help monitor anti-social elements during the celebrations.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and order while appealing to all communities to celebrate the occasion with mutual respect and understanding.
