Jamshedpur: Kolhan’s newly appointed Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Anuranjan Kispotta, arrived in Jamshedpur on Friday for the first time to assess the city’s law enforcement readiness.
He was received warmly at the police headquarters by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Piyush Pandey and was accorded a guard of honour.
DIG Kispotta began his visit with an introductory session involving senior police officials. He then conducted a thorough evaluation of the security measures being implemented in preparation for the upcoming Bakrid festival. Stressing the need for heightened alertness, he instructed the force to ensure robust security in sensitive areas through adequate police deployment.
He directed officials to organize flag marches, utilize drone surveillance, and engage actively with peace committees to ensure the festival is celebrated peacefully and without incident.
In addition to festival preparations, DIG Kispotta reviewed the district’s ongoing crime control efforts. He examined recent criminal cases and urged officers to adopt firm and result-oriented approaches. He called for improved station-level vigilance, intensified patrolling, and the identification of habitual offenders to enable prompt and decisive action.
The meeting was attended by the City and Rural Superintendents of Police, along with other senior officers, who briefed the DIG on current challenges, law and order conditions, and policing priorities in the district.
Kispotta, who recently took charge as DIG of Kolhan, has been actively touring all three districts—East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan—to inspect and reinforce police operations. His visit to Jamshedpur marked his first official review meeting in the city.
During an informal interaction with the media the DIG reiterated that citizen safety is paramount. He emphasized that the police must function with transparency, accountability, and efficiency to build public trust and effectively resolve community issues.
