UditVani, Jamshedpur: Dense fog is likely to affect isolated pockets of north-western and central Jharkhand over a three-day period from December 20 to December 22, as per the latest weather bulletin.
Meteorological officials said that fog conditions may turn particularly dense during the early morning hours on December 21 and 22, potentially reducing visibility in some areas and impacting road traffic and early-hour travel.
At present, no significant synoptic system is influencing the region. However, light south-easterly to easterly winds persisting in the lower tropospheric levels are contributing to favourable conditions for fog formation during the night and early morning.
Weather conditions over the last 24 hours remained dry across the state, with noticeable variations in temperature. Chaibasa recorded the highest maximum temperature of 26.8°C, while Lohardaga experienced the lowest minimum temperature at 7.7°C, reflecting the chill typical of late December.
Among major urban centres, Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 9.1°C, whereas Jamshedpur saw a relatively warmer minimum of 13.4°C.
Residents have been advised to remain cautious during early morning travel, especially on highways and open stretches, as visibility may drop sharply in fog-prone areas.
