
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Dense fog is likely to prevail at isolated locations over the north-western and northern-central parts of Jharkhand during the morning hours of December 19 and 20, the India Meteorological Department said on Thursday.
The department noted that no significant synoptic weather system is influencing the state at present.
As per the IMD’s realised weather report based on observations at 8.30 am on December 18, day temperatures across Jharkhand remained near to slightly below normal, while night temperatures showed mixed variations.
Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 22.6°C, marginally below average, with the minimum settling at 9.1°C.
Jamshedpur reported a warmer day at 25.7°C, while its minimum temperature rose above normal to 12.8°C.
Chaibasa emerged as the warmest location in the state with a maximum temperature of 27.0°C, whereas the lowest minimum temperature of 6.0°C was recorded at Ranchi AMFU.
No rainfall was reported from any part of Jharkhand during the past 24 hours.
Fog was observed at several places, including Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Deoghar, with Deoghar airport reporting the lowest visibility of 400 metres.
The IMD clarified that no cold wave conditions were realised anywhere in the state.
Data from automated weather stations indicated a gradual dip in night temperatures at a few locations, signalling a steady progression of winter conditions.
The meteorological department has advised commuters and residents in fog-affected areas to remain cautious during early morning hours due to poor visibility.
