UditVani,Jamshedpur : Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi chaired the monthly review meeting of the Supply Department at the Collectorate auditorium on Monday, where the progress of foodgrain distribution and departmental schemes was assessed.
The meeting reviewed paddy procurement under the Kharif Marketing Season 2024–25, foodgrain distribution under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) for August–September, the Jharkhand Food Security Scheme, issuance of new ration cards, distribution of salt, sugar, pulses, e-KYC of ration cardholders, and pending cases on the PMGKS portal.
During the review, it was noted that while payments to farmers for paddy procurement had seen significant progress, 97 farmers were yet to receive their bonus payments. The DC directed officials to clear these dues at the earliest. In the Kharif season, 6,015 farmers registered for paddy procurement, with a total of 7,01,991 quintals of paddy procured.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the slow pace of NFSA foodgrain distribution, the DC directed all Marketing Officers (MOs) to ensure 100% distribution within September. He also instructed officials to achieve full targets in the distribution of pulses, sugar, and salt. Further, awareness drives were stressed for ration cardholders who have not yet completed their e-KYC, to prevent eligible beneficiaries from being excluded.
The DC emphasized timely foodgrain distribution, updating of ration cards, resolution of pending grievances, and ensuring delivery of benefits to all eligible beneficiaries. He also instructed sensitive handling of ration card deletions, cautioning that no genuine beneficiary should be adversely affected. It was noted that grievance redressal on the PMGKS portal was almost 100% complete.
The meeting was attended by Special Division Officer Rahul Anand, District Supply Officer Julfikar Ansari, all MOs, Block Supply Officers, and other concerned officials and staff.
