UditVani, Jamshedpur : The cyclonic storm Montha, which made landfall over coastal Andhra Pradesh earlier this week, has now significantly weakened into a deep depression, bringing temporary relief from severe weather threats. The system is currently moving north-northwestwards across parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and southern Chhattisgarh, while gradually losing intensity.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the remnant system will continue to influence Jharkhand’s weather for the next 24 hours, leading to intermittent light to moderate rainfall across several districts. Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in northern and northeastern Jharkhand — particularly in the districts of Godda, Deoghar, Dumka, and Sahibganj — on October 30 and 31.
Weather officials said that no major warnings have been issued beyond October 31, as the system is expected to weaken further into a low-pressure area and dissipate by the weekend. From November 1 onwards, most parts of Jharkhand are likely to experience dry and clear weather conditions.
The IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre reported that light to moderate rainfall has already occurred in parts of Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, and Hazaribagh since Wednesday as the cyclone’s outer rainbands swept across the region.
“Rainfall activity will gradually taper off by Friday as the system moves away and loses strength. Temperatures are expected to drop slightly, and the sky will clear up across most districts,” said a senior IMD official.
With cyclone Montha weakening and moving further inland, Jharkhand’s weather is set to improve steadily, marking the end of the brief wet spell triggered by the storm.
