
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML) today inaugurated the national conference EMBT-2025, a premier event aimed at accelerating innovation and sustainability in mineral beneficiation.
The three-day conference brings together over 150 experts, researchers, and industry professionals from 22 leading organizations and institutions across India.

Welcoming delegates at the inauguration, Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director, CSIR-NML, emphasized the importance of mineral beneficiation in improving ore quality and productivity while upholding environmental commitments.
He noted that automation, green technologies, and process optimization hold transformative potential for India’s mineral sector.
Devabrata Mishra, Chairman, EMBT-2025 and Head of CSIR-NML’s Mineral Processing Division, outlined the conference’s vision of fostering collaboration across academia, industry, and government. He stressed the need for energy-efficient, zero-waste beneficiation technologies, particularly for ferrous, non-ferrous, industrial, and strategic minerals.

The event was graced by Sanjiv Kumar Singh, Chairman & Managing Director of Hindustan Copper Ltd., as the Chief Guest.
He inaugurated the exhibition-cum-poster session and lauded CSIR-NML for its consistent R&D excellence. In his address, he underscored the role of mineral beneficiation in supporting India’s journey toward self-reliance and environmental sustainability.
He also spotlighted Hindustan Copper’s focus on cleaner technologies, digital transformation, and downstream integration.

R.K. Rath, Senior Principal Scientist and Convenor of EMBT-2025, shared that 66 technical papers would be presented across nine parallel sessions, alongside a dedicated poster segment. Institutions represented include Tata Steel, Hindustan Zinc, AMNS India, Coal India, NMDC, SAIL, JSW Steel, IITs, CSIR labs, and others.
The event also featured plenary lectures from eminent figures like Subodh Pandey (VP, Technology, Tata Steel), Pardip (Former, TRDDC), Dr. P.K. Banerjee (Outstanding Scientist, CSIR-CIMFR), and Prof. D.K. Singh (IIT-ISM Dhanbad).
A total of nine keynote addresses are scheduled over the course of the conference.
EMBT-2025 is poised to serve as a dynamic platform to shape the future of India’s mineral processing industry through knowledge exchange, strategic partnerships, and technological foresight.
