
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The 2026 Municipal elections witnessed a spirited response from voters across key urban local bodies, with a particularly strong presence of women voters who were seen standing patiently in long queues to exercise their franchise.
The atmosphere across polling stations remained vibrant and orderly, reflecting the democratic fervour that defines this significant civic exercise.
As per the official voter turnout figures recorded till 11 AM, polling progressed steadily in several urban centres. Mango Municipal Corporation registered a turnout of 19.5 per cent, indicating a moderate yet promising start to the day. In Jugsalai Municipal Council, voter participation was comparatively higher at 24.2 per cent, while Chakulia Nagar Panchayat recorded the most impressive turnout among the three, touching 33.8 per cent by late morning.
Election officials reported smooth polling operations, with adequate security arrangements and necessary facilities in place to ensure a peaceful and transparent voting process.
The visible enthusiasm among women voters stood out as a defining feature of the morning hours, underscoring growing civic awareness and participation at the grassroots level.
With several hours of polling still remaining, officials expect the turnout percentage to rise substantially as more residents step out to cast their votes and shape the future leadership of their respective civic bodies.
