
UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a dramatic late-night encounter, police exchanged fire with armed criminals in the Baridih area under Sidhgora police station area around 2 a.m. on Tuesday.
Two of the assailants sustained bullet injuries and were immediately taken into custody before being admitted to MGM Hospital for treatment.
According to police sources, officers had received a tip-off that a group of criminals was planning a major crime near Baridih High School.
Acting swiftly, a police team cordoned off the area and raided a nearby building.
Upon being surrounded, the criminals opened fire on the police, prompting the officers to retaliate.
During the exchange, two of the miscreants were shot — one identified as Gopal Kumar, who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, while the other sustained injuries to the abdomen.
Three others managed to escape.
Police recovered two pistols, several live cartridges, spent shells, and other incriminating items from the spot.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the injured criminals were involved in a recent firing incident at businessman Hare Ram Singh’s residence.
Multiple police teams have been deployed to trace and apprehend the absconding members of the gang.
