Jamshedpur : The Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC) in Baliguma has made history by becoming the first Urban-PHC in Jharkhand to receive the prestigious National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification.
The announcement was made during the monthly review meeting of the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), held at the Civil Surgeon Auditorium, Khasmahal, under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal.
The meeting also featured a training session on Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI), with Dr. Ranjit Kumar Panda, District R.O. and C.H.O. Officer, outlining detailed protocols for AEFI management and emphasizing district-wide implementation.
Dr. Pal praised the Baliguma UPHC team for their commitment to quality healthcare and also recognized PHC Manushmudia in Baharagora for becoming the second PHC in Jharkhand to earn the NQAS certification.
Officials were directed to ensure 100% vaccination coverage across all Atal Clinics and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in urban areas. Dr. Pal also reviewed the progress of critical national health programs, including those targeting tuberculosis, malaria, and leprosy.
The session was attended by key district health officials, including Dr. Soumya Ghosh, Leprosy Consultant Dr. Rajiv, and health professionals such as Manish Kumar Singh, Deepak Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Vishal Kumar, and Amit Kumar. Representatives from PSI-India, Sahya-Sathi, and various ANMs, UBTs, and Public Health Managers also participated.
These certifications underscore the district’s growing commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare and setting new standards for urban health services across the state.
