
UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a significant breakthrough against illegal narcotics, Baharagora police arrested two traffickers carrying 5 Kg of cannabis during a vehicle check on NH-49 near the Bharat Petrol Pump, close to Jamsola. The accused have been sent to judicial custody.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Pahlad Purti from Pathuri Budhamara village and Ramchandra Giri from Asna village, both in Mayurbhanj district, Odisha.
Acting on a tip-off that the two were transporting cannabis in a white sack on a Hero Honda Splendor Plus (OR11E8078) from Odisha towards Chichida via Baharagora, police immediately set up a vehicle check on Jamsola Road.
When signaled to stop, the suspects tried to flee, but the police acted swiftly to apprehend them.
During a search, 5 Kg of cannabis, two Android mobile phones, and the motorcycle used for trafficking were seized.
A case under the NDPS Act (FIR No. 16/2025) has been registered at Baharagora police station.
