UditVani, Jamshedpur : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again placed its trust on Babulal Soren as its official candidate for the Ghatshila Assembly by-election scheduled to take place on November 11.
The bypoll was necessitated following the demise of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and state minister Ramdas Soren.
Babulal Soren, who had contested the 2024 Assembly election from the same constituency on a BJP ticket, has been re-nominated by the party leadership.
Soon after the announcement, he expressed gratitude to the top BJP leadership through his social media post, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, National President J.P. Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi, and Working President Aditya Sahu for their confidence in him.
Party insiders said the BJP’s decision underscores its strategic focus on tribal representation and local leadership in East Singhbhum district.
Soren, known for his strong grassroots connect and organizational work in the Kolhan region, is expected to help the party consolidate its presence among tribal voters.
The Ghatshila constituency has long been a JMM bastion, making the upcoming bypoll a prestige battle for the BJP.
The party aims to turn the tide this time by banking on Soren’s popularity and the Modi government’s welfare initiatives.
Meanwhile, the JMM is likely to announce its candidate soon, setting the stage for a high-stakes political contest in the tribal heartland of Jharkhand.
