UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a decisive move to protect the Dalma Eco-Sensitive Zone, authorities have launched a major crackdown on illegal stone mining operations in Chandil.
A joint team comprising the district administration, forest department, and local police carried out the raid, uncovering large-scale violations in the protected area.
During the operation, officials seized illegally stocked stones, excavation machinery, and vehicles allegedly used for unauthorized mining and transportation. All seized materials have been handed over to the forest department for further legal proceedings.
According to officials, the illegal mining was being conducted without valid permits, posing a grave threat to the fragile ecology of the Dalma region — home to diverse flora, fauna, and elephants that migrate through the area.
A senior forest official stated, “We are determined to safeguard the Dalma Eco-Sensitive Zone. Those involved in illegal mining will face strict legal action.”
Authorities have also warned local traders and transporters against engaging in unauthorized mining activities. Further raids are planned to completely dismantle the illegal mining network in the region.
The drive reflects the administration’s firm stance on conserving Dalma’s ecological balance and preventing further environmental degradation.
