UditVani, Jamshedpur : Angad Kumar’s journey from a young man inspired by Neeraj Chopra’s 2020 Olympic gold to a decorated para athlete is a powerful testament to what opportunity and inclusion can achieve.
Joining Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Division in 2024 as part of the pioneering first batch of PwD employees, Angad began his professional career as a CCTV operator in the Security Department.
But, it was within this empowering and supportive environment that his latent sporting potential found room to flourish.
With access to structured training and unwavering encouragement, Angad rapidly emerged as a force in para athletics—winning gold medals in both Javelin and Shot Put at the 21st Jharkhand State Para Athletics Championship 2025.
He added to this success with a silver medal at the 4th National Para Throwball Championship and proudly represented Jharkhand at the Khelo India Para Games and the National Para Athletics Championship the same year.
Expressing deep gratitude for the platform Tata Steel provided, Angad said, “Tata Steel has been instrumental in my journey, giving me the support I needed to chase my dreams in sports. With continued hard work, I hope to achieve even more and bring pride to Tata Steel, my family, and the nation.”
He also acknowledged the guidance of his coach, Rajiv Singh, from the Division’s Sports Department.
Hailing from Jamshedpur, Angad belongs to a family strongly connected with Tata Steel—his father a former employee, and both his brothers currently part of the organisation.
Angad Kumar’s inspiring rise reflects Tata Steel’s core belief: that when individuals are empowered with opportunity, respect, and an inclusive environment, they can soar beyond limitations and achieve extraordinary success.
