UditVani, Jamshedpur : In view of continuous rainfall and the rising water levels of Subernarekha and Kharkai rivers, the East Singhbhum district administration has issued an alert on Sunday, urging residents living in low-lying and riverbank areas to remain vigilant and avoid venturing near the rivers.
Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi has specifically appealed to citizens residing near the Kharkai and Subernarekha rivers to stay alert and strictly follow instructions issued by the administration in case of emergencies.
He warned that the water levels could rise abruptly, potentially leading to flood-like conditions.
The DC advised residents to move to safer, higher grounds during heavy rainfall, emphasizing that public safety remains the top priority of the district administration.
Sub-divisional officers, municipal authorities, Block Development Officers (BDOs), and Circle Officers (COs) are actively monitoring the situation through field visits.
The administration has appealed for public cooperation to help prevent any loss of life. In case of emergencies or to report urgent situations, citizens are encouraged to contact the control room at 0657-2444233.
