UditVani, Jamshedpur: In a major breakthrough against the outlawed CPI (Maoist) outfit, a joint security team comprising Chaibasa police, Seraikela-Kharsawan police, Jharkhand Jaguar, and CRPF’s 60th Battalion recovered and safely neutralized 16 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during an intensive anti-naxal operation in the dense forested hills of Toklo police station area in West Singhbhum district.
The operation was launched following intelligence inputs received by the Superintendent of Police, West Singhbhum, on July 6 ( Sunday ).
The input indicated that top Maoist leaders — including Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochu, Anal, Asim Mandal, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angaria, Ashwin, Pintu Lohra, Chandan Lohra, Amit Hansda alias Upton, Jaykant, Rapa Munda, and others — along with their armed squads, were actively moving across the Saranda-Kolhan region planning destructive activities.
Acting on this intelligence, a combined team was swiftly formed and deployed. On 7 July, a search operation was launched in the forested hills between Toklo (West Singhbhum) and Dalbhanga OP (Seraikela-Kharsawan).
During the search in the Kotsona and Langi hill areas, the joint force discovered 16 IEDs, each weighing around 2 kilograms, buried by the Maoists with the intent to harm security personnel and obstruct the ongoing operations.
All explosives were safely defused on site by the bomb disposal squad to prevent any threat to civilian or security personnel. Further action and investigation are ongoing.
Security Forces Involved in the Operation:
1. Chaibasa Police
2. Seraikela-Kharsawan Police
3. Jharkhand Jaguar
4. CRPF 60th Battalion
This successful operation has significantly thwarted potential threats and once again demonstrated the readiness and coordination of Jharkhand’s security apparatus in tackling Maoist insurgency in the region.
